US markets edged their way up from session lows yet still settled losses in the 1% range. Initially weakness was the result of debt issues in Eurolands markets and the US opened trade sharply lower.

The FTSE 100 closed down 125.93 points, or 2.1 %, at 5,870.08, its lowest close since March 23.

US stocks rallied as encouraging signs on the economy overshadowed poor corporate earnings reports. The FED reported that factories increased production for the ninth straight month.

The Dow is off in early trading currently at 12,193.64 or 77.35 (-0.63%) points lower, Nasdaq is in the same boat at 2734.16 off 22.35 (-0.81%) and the S & P is 1305.65 or off 8.76 (-0.67%).
