Euro struggling versus Dollar

The Euro is continuing to weaken against the U.S Dollar; after crawling back to 1.4405, it struggled to stay there and fell to presently trade at 1.4375. Euro is struggling as Greece’s debt problem resurfaced again.

Earlier in the day, the British currency was rising higher against the Dollar; reaching 1.6426 while anticipating U.K Consumer Price Index. Meanwhile the news was expected to be released the pair rose even more to 1.6440, only to fall to 1.64 after the release and currently trade much lower at 1.6396.

The Euro opened up at near 1.47 highs earlier in the morning versus the U.S Dollar and tumbled down only to stop before exiting the 1.46 line. The european currency is keeping steady, awaiting for Trichet’s ECB statement later today.

U.S Dollar weakens after GDP release

The number of individuals who filed for unemployment insurance for the first time during the past week added up to 424,000 people; 21,000 individuals more than expected. Also, this week’s subtotal was 10,000 people more than last week’s total of unemployment claims filed. Forecasted number of individuals expected to file for unemployment was approximately 403,000; while previous results came out at 414,000.
Another news release for the US was the GDP second release, which also disappointed at 1.8% while it was expected to show a 2.2% release. Gross Domestic Product remained the same as the previous GDP release, both at 1.8%.

Euro slips to 1.40- line against Dollar

Eurozone decided that it will help Portugal with a bailout package, which will most likely be approved on Monday, after the eurozone finance ministers accept and agree with Finland’s conditions. Portugal’s loan sums to a 78 billion euro price tag. Interest rate on the 78 billion euro Portuguese debt which will be decided by the ministers, would be between 5.5% and 6.0%.
