Most European markets are in negative in morning trading, the UK is up slightly. More aftershocks in Japan are certainly not helping markets.

Overnight we have seen the Euro ease off its highs against the dollar, will be interesting to see if it continues its charge in the coming week

Once again gold hit another record as a weakening dollar boosted demand for the precious metal as an alternative asset and an inflation hedge. Silver climbed above $40 an ounce to a 31 year high and again the gold/silver ratio is at an all time low of around 37 times.
