Euro trading slightly lower today

Euro trading slightly lower today off the back of the market concerns that the ECB rate rise last week will hamper the efforts of Ireland, Portugal and Greece to contain debt, the euro has dropped from a 15 month high against the USD.

Once again gold hit another record as a weakening dollar boosted demand for the precious metal as an alternative asset and an inflation hedge. Silver climbed above $40 an ounce to a 31 year high and again the gold/silver ratio is at an all time low of around 37 times.

European stocks rose in early trade on Friday, off the back of the European Central Bank’s decision to raise interest rates helped fuel optimism over the health of euro zone economy. The FTSE, DAX, CAC and IBEX were all up over 0.75% in early trading.
