German Producer Price Index up by 0.1%

German Index of Producer Price for Domestic Sales rose in June 2011 by 0.1% as predicted, compared to may 2011 at 0.0%.

Measuring the change in the price of goods sold by manufacturers, German PPI rose by 5.6% in June 2011 from June 2010.  Traders take interest in this index because when manufacturers charge more for goods, the higher costs are usually passed on to the consumer. 

The Euro/Dollar session today opened up at 1.4152. hitting highs of 1.4175 and lows of 1.4142.
