Housing Corporation at 184K units

Canada’s awaited Mortgage and Housing Corporation news release came out just minutes ago. Housing Starts was released at 184,000 for May, up from April’s roughly 179,000 units. The announcement for Canada was in line with expectations, which run at 184,000 units too.

As the Euro opened high at 1.4693 against the U.S Dollar; a volatile nature was observed throughout the day as the pair jumped from the opening high to 1.4650 before gaining again to 1.4570; only to fall again after euro nation news that Germany’s Industrial Output was released lower than expected. EUR/USD fell to 1.4622 shortly after the announcement.

Swiss CPI was released earlier today, marking a steady 0.0% as expected but lower than the previous month’s 0.1% rise.

House Prices by Halifax Bank of Scotland were released earlier today, with worse than expected results. HPI was released at 0.1%, when annoucement was expected at 0.4%. House Price Index continues to drop, as previous value released was a 1.4% decline.

Reserve Bank of Australia held an interview meeting earlier this morning; Glenn Stevens, Governor, discussed the views on Interest Rates only to keep them steady at 4.75%. This was expected as no rush of an Interest Rate hike was imminent
