Unemployment in euro area reached 10.7%

According to Eurostat unemployment rate in euro zone rose to seasonally adjusted 10.7% in January, reaching a record high level.

Analysts expected jobless rate decline to at least 10.4%.

December’s revised reading showed 10.6%

Among 27 EU countries unemployment rate reached 10.1% up from 10.0% prior month.

Countries with the highest rate are Spain (23.3%), Greece (19.9%), and the lowest unemployment rate has recorded in Austria (4.0%).
